Today is a very special day. Because today there’s not one, but two Logic Pro updates!
With Logic Pro now available both for Mac and for iPad, Apple has bestowed a doozy of an update on both platforms. And I suspect many, many folks are going to appreciate today’s announcement 🙂
The blockbuster feature appearing for both versions of Logic Pro is the brand-new Mastering Assistant effect plug-in:
Mastering Assistant finally closes the gap in the Logic Pro toolkit. While Logic has long had the typical processors for mastering one’s music, it always felt like something was missing.
Sure, there’s the Linear EQ, Adaptive Limiter, Multipressor, and others. But again, it all felt like a band-aid solution.
Well not anymore! Mastering Assistant provides an automated solution for mastering your music. Once you’ve finished mixing your Project, you can instantly load Mastering Assistant on the Stereo Output of your Project in either version of Logic Pro.
From there, Logic Pro will analyze your Project or selection, and will then:
- Boost the level of your Project to match industry-specified loudness and true peak values
- Fine-tune the tonal, dynamic, and imaging balance of your Project for ideal playback across devices
And it does all of this for you – automagically!
Based entirely on the workflow and boutique hardware used by professional mastering engineers. In fact, Mastering Assistant provides 4 different character options to adjust the vibe of your mastered track.
But if automated mastering makes you uncomfortable, don’t fret! Mastering Assistant allows you to customize its tonal, dynamic, and spread controls to better match your musical intent.
As if Mastering Assistant alone wasn’t a big enough reason for an update, there’s plenty more where that comes from.
For example, some of the other blockbuster features of the 1.1 update of Logic Pro for iPad:
- Quick Sampler now includes Recorder Mode
- Logic Pro can be used with both Split-view and Stage Manager
- Drag and drop multiple audio files from the Files app into Logic Pro
- Slide your finger to preview multiple patches, loops & samples quickly
- 32-bit float recording support (with compatible audio interfaces)
- New in-app lessons and Sound Packs
And some of the other awesome features of the 10.8 update of Logic Pro for Mac:
- Sample Alchemy and Beat Breaker are fully available on Logic Pro for Mac

- 32-bit float recording support (with compatible audio interfaces)
- Multiple Drummers can be used on a per-region basis on a single Drummer Track
