Do You Need an External Hard Drive For Your Music?

Happy New Year!

A new year always is refreshing, isn’t it? It’s like the slate has been wiped clean, making way for new opportunities and goals.

And if you’re anything like me, maybe you’ve made some goals to write, record or produce more music this year. Sharing your best work yet!

And what better way to usher in your creative goals than to optimize your workflow in Logic Pro?

One of the best things you can do is start using a professional external hard drive for your music.

If you’re still saving years of Projects on your Mac’s hard drive, you might not be getting the best results.

While an external hard drive is not required by any means, it can make a big difference:

  • Reduce the occurrence of System overloads
  • Improve the speed and reliability of your Mac
  • Free up space so you’re Mac can do its thing

Many other upgrades can make a big difference as well. But your choice of hard drive (both internal and external) can be a massive improvement for your creative work.

In today’s video, I’ll walk you through choosing the perfect external hard drive for your needs.

    Thanks for that Chris.
You have posted this video on cue!!!
I probably need to run my iMac from a different drive, as it’s been complaining about some of my projects, even after changing Buffer settings etc……… I must check out the Clone software you speak of………
Have a great year, and speak soon.

Oups, my message left before I had if done !

A related little topic would be :

What Logic files and folders should we change place or not when we install a new external HD or SSD ? Any Logic folders that needs to stay at a specific place to satisfy Logic’s requirements ? Should we be careful about this or any Logic files can be moved from once place to any other place ? What do you recommend ?

    Thanks in advance !

Thanks so much for this. Another great tutorial. As always, I appreciate your clarity and thoroughness.

Do you keep the Logic X app on your computer and only move the projects to the external drive, or do you move the app to the ex drive too?
