Brand New to Logic? Here’s the 5 Day Quick Start Guide to Logic Pro X

These last couple of weeks have been pretty surreal for everyone around the world. As many of us are staying home, the kind folks at Apple have done something they’ve never done before with Logic Pro X…

Apple is offering for the first time a 90 day free trial of Logic Pro X. Nothing’s held back. No restrictions on workflow. 3 months of checking out the best DAW around:

This is a pretty big deal. First – this is a wonderful gesture on Apple’s part to all us creatives who are trying to manage through these uncertain times.

Second, Apple has never before offered a trial version of Logic Pro X.

Garageband, Apple’s free music-making software, is essentially the trial version of Logic. If you enjoy creating in Garageband but want to graduate to more professional experience, that’s when you would have to bust out the credit card.

Now the cost of Logic is peanuts compared to other DAWs out there. But $199 USD can still feel like a lot when you don’t know what the other side is going to feel like.

I applaud Apple for pulling back the curtain and sharing Logic with the rest of the Mac world. If you’ve wanted to check out Logic but have been gun-shy about ponying up the money, this is your chance 🙂

To celebrate, WLPR is getting back to basics. For the next 5 days, I’ll be posting a free 5-day Quick Start Guide to getting started in Logic Pro X.

These 5 videos are the core essentials any beginner will need to know to get right down to creating in Logic.

We’ll cover everything from:

  • Loading up a brand new Project
  • Setting up your Audio Interface
  • Recording audio and MIDI
  • Using Drummer
  • Editing your performances with Flex-Time and Flex-Pitch

And much more!

These 5 videos are succinct and to the point. We’re not digging into the weeds of details you might need someday. These videos focus on helping you create right now.

This Quick Start Guide was originally released as an email subscriber-only walkthrough. But it only felt right to celebrate Apple’s decision to offer a trial version of Logic by making this Quick Start Guide public.

Enjoy! And keep your eyes on WLPR for the next 5 days 🙂
