Writing automation should be a staple in any DAW user’s tool kit. With automation you can add life and movement to a Project by programming plug-ins and channel strips to adapt throughout the production.
Admittedly, writing automation can be a tedious and finicky process. What if you want to automate in specific patterns or timing?
Well, did you know that Logic Pro’s Step Sequencer can be employed as a more fun and creative solution for writing automation? I’m talking about automation for all track types. Even audio tracks!
While not immediately obvious, you can assign more than 1 track to a single channel strip. By doing the following:
- Select a track in your Project
- Go to Track > Other > New Track With Same Channel/Instrument
- Right-click on the track you’ve created and…
- Select Create Pattern Region
Now you’re ready to start writing Automation for your selected Channel Strip!
Once you have the workflow down, you can easily craft all sorts of fun and unique patterns to automate your tracks. Click on today’s video above to learn how ⬆️
