Sometimes we all need a little transposing in our creative life.
Maybe it’s a brilliant sample. Or a recording that ended up being out of key. Or a certain section of your Project that could use a key switch.
Or maybe, just maybe, an entire Project needs transposing. For example, to better fit the vocal range of a vocalist.
Logic Pro allows you to easily adjust the pitch of your tracks based on semitones or even cents. Thanks to the Transposing feature in the Region Inspector for both audio and software tracks.
There’s also the Transpose Global Track lane so you can adjust entire sections of your songs.
You can also convert your audio regions to Apple Loops for audio that automatically transposes with your Projects.
But did you know that through some crafty use of Varispeed, you can also transpose your entire Project as a whole?
(Skip ahead to 10:59 in today’s video for more on using Varispeed for full Project transposing).
The options available to you are many. So the question is – how creative do you wanna get?
Today’s video above is everything you might ever want to know about transposing tracks in Logic Pro. And how you can fit any sample, loop, track, (or Project) to your vision.
Great, brilliant !! Thank you
Hi.
My Logic Pro x transposition only transposes Higher, not lower. I’ve written to Graham but no reply. I use midi tracks from Mudi-Hits. Please advise in language like for a little kid, cuz I don’t understand the tech talk. TIA!! LL
Hi there! I also wanted to use the transposition feature to make my vocal track an octave lower (for bass sound), but when I do this, Logic somehow messes up the timing of the track, so that some of the key changes come later than supposed to. Could this be a bug, or an issue of CPU space? I’ve had similar weird problems with Logic before
